Napoli ultras unveil banner calling for Sarri return
- Napoli are currently second in the Serie A table.
- Their fans held a banner which read 'Sarri one of us' during the defeat to Atalanta on Monday.
- The manager reportedly won't be against his dismissal as he has an offer from Roma.
Maurizio Sarri's future at Chelsea is uncertain as the Blues are yet to guarantee a spot in the Champions League next season. Napoli fans would certainly welcome his return as they unveiled the 'Sarri one of us' banner during the 2-1 defeat to Atalanta.
Sarri's former club are currently second in the league table. As Juventus have recently won their eighth consecutive Serie A title, Napoli fans seem unhappy with how Carlo Ancelotti has settled at the club. Gli Azzurri were knocked out of the Coppa Italia quarter-finals in January while also facing elimination in the Europa League quarter-finals to Arsenal.
The manager reportedly won't stand against the club's decision to relieve him of his duties. The Italian is rumoured to be at loggerheads with the board and considers leaving the Premier League for the Serie A. Roma are allegedly interested in bringing Sarri back to Italy as they see him as a replacement for Eusebio Di Francesco.
The Blues can qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League this season. However, Sarri doesn't consider the UCL a goal in itself:
"I think the media give the Champions League too much importance. Of course it’s the most important competition for clubs. But it’s a competition with straight elimination, so we need to play very well but you need to be lucky in that competition. I can understand if you stay in the Champions League it’s another world probably."
