Ex-City defender Mills: I can see Nuno going to Chelsea
- The footballer-turned-pundit thinks Nuno Espirito Santo will not reject the Blues' offer if it comes.
- He's done a good job at Wolves but clubs like Chelsea are 'exceptional'.
- And Chelsea could do worse than have Nuno in their sights.
Former Leeds United and Manchester City defender Danny Mills believes that Nuno Espirito Santo would gladly accept an offer from Chelsea to become their manager.
Mills who is currently working as a TV pundit thinks that the Wolves' manager deserves being in the mix for the job.
Despite ambitious plans at the Midlands club, Chelsea are too attractive a club to reject them, argues the former England international.
"Is Chelsea a step up from Wolves? Yes, it is. Would Nuno take the job if offered it? Yes, he would," Mills told Football Insider. "I can see him going there if Chelsea offer it to him.
"Wolves are exciting and Nuno has done an outstanding job there. But there are not too many times you get offered a job like the Chelsea one.
"Nuno will see Chelsea as a very attractive football club. I know there is a transfer ban and Eden Hazard has been sold, but there is still an exceptional squad of players at the club.
Nuno's Wolves gained 4 out of 6 points in 2 games vs Chelsea
"There is a lot of short-termism in terms of how the club operate, but the managers who do leave Chelsea still go on to get excellent jobs afterwards. Nuno would certainly be on my list if I was in charge at Chelsea."
It is believed that Nuno Espirito Santo is indeed on the Blues' shortlist for Maurizio Sarri's replacement.
However, it looks like he, as well as Laurent Blanc, is only a back-up option to Frank Lampard. Sky Sports understand that Chelsea will enter negotiations with their former star as soon as Maurizio Sarri's move to Juventus is resolved.
