'I hope Chelsea make the deal happen': Omeruo pleads for Leganes return
- The Loan Army veteran's move is currently negotiated.
- The Spanish club have improved their offer.
- So far, Chelsea have not accepted it, but are willing to talk.
Kenneth Omeruo has once again spoken publicly to beg Chelsea to let him go.
The 25-year-old Nigerian centre-back is one of the most long-standing Loan Army members, having been on loan at various clubs for 5 years:
- 2014–2015: Middlesbrough
- 2015–2016: Kasımpaşa
- 2016–2017: Alanyaspor
- 2017–2018: Kasımpaşa
- 2018–2019: Leganes
It is the latter club where Omeruo has felt at home and several times made it known that he wants to stay.
"Yes, Leganes is a team that I want to be part of because the manager trusts me soo much and wants to give me a lot of opportunities," said the player as cited by Vanguard.
"I'm happy that they are putting efforts and they have increased their offer. Hopefully, the deal happens, I hope Chelsea work with them and make the deal happen."
According to the latest reports, Leganes have submitted a €4.5mln bid for Omeruo but Chelsea are reluctant to accept it.
Though the Nigerian is not in the club's plans, Chelsea are holding out for a €7mln price tag. The Spanish side may have to increase their offer to retain their main defender.
