AS: Leganes close to signing Omeruo, reported details revealed
- The Nigerian has expressed the desire to keep playing for the Spanish club.
- Chelsea are expected to receive €5m.
- Omeruo will sign a five-year contract, according to the source.
Spanish club Leganes are close to finalising a move for Chelsea's Loan Army veteran Kenneth Omeruo, AS claims.
The Nigerian centre-back has not concealed his wish to remain at the club where he played on loan last season.
"Yes, Leganes is a team that I want to be part of because the manager trusts me soo much and wants to give me a lot of opportunities," said the player as cited by Vanguard.
Apparently, he will be granted his wish, as Chelsea have reportedly agreed to accept €5m for Omeruo who would not be playing for the Blues anyway.
The key reason for the deal is Omeruo's desire to play at Leganes and nowhere else, AS's Javier Martin has reported.
The Nigerian centre-back is expected to sign a five-year contract with the La Liga side for which he made 31 appearances in all competitions last season.
Prior to that, Omeruo spent several seasons at other clubs while still being a Chelsea player:
- 2014–2015: Middlesbrough
- 2015–2016: Kasımpaşa
- 2016–2017: Alanyaspor
- 2017–2018: Kasımpaşa
