The Athletic: Luiz refused to adapt to Lampard's tactics before his Arsenal transfer
- In RB Salzburg pre-season game Luiz was instructed to play short passes.
- Instead, he reverted to his favourite long passes.
- Lampard & Luiz have had a harsh talk after the game.
- It eventually led to the Brazilian's last day Arsenal transfer.
The Athletic reveal that Frank Lampard was 'annoyed' by David Luiz, who refused to follow his game plan right before it was decided that Brazilian should leave Stamford Bridge.
It is claimed that Lampard didn't like Luiz's attitude in a pre-season 5-3 win over Red Bull Salzburg. In that game the coach wanted Chelsea to play out short passes from the backline. However, Luiz reverted to playing long balls.
In a heated argument after the game, Lampard decided that Luiz will not be a part of the Blues squad anymore. It has led to the Brazilian's last day transfer to Arsenal.
Luiz himself explained the sudden transfer at the time: "In talks with Frank [Lampard], [he revealed] he had a different plan for the year. So we spoke in total honesty, and he made it clear that he had different ideas from mine."
