Gunners' Bernd Leno: Arsenal are the biggest London club
- The German believes Chelsea & Tottenham are nowhere near the Gunners.
- Arsenal have fans around the world, he says.
- Arguably, that is the only reason for such a statement from Leno.
The German shot-stopper was asked by SportBild to compare the North London club to his previous outfit, Bayer Leverkusen.
There is little doubt that Arsenal have a more significant presence on the football stage than a side that never won Bundesliga. Leno went further, however, and put his club above their city rivals.
"You can’t compare that, of course, Arsenal is a world club, THE club here in London," the goalkeeper claimed.
"Not Chelsea, not Tottenham – Arsenal is the club here with fans around the world. No matter where we are, also in the USA or in Asia, there are many fans of Arsenal everywhere."
We won't be openly disputing Leno's claims about the number of fans (though shirt sales suggest otherwise). And of course, the German keeper could not compare Chelsea and Arsenal in action last time they met in the Europa League final. He might have a chance to play in this competition this year, though.
