Ex-Blue Tony Dorigo sees endless potential in Chelsea's youth
- Lampard has a great squad to pick from.
- Ex-Blue Tony Dorigo backs the coach to give young players more opportunities.
- While it may be challenging to give everyone playing time, the fans will be delighted with more and more Academy players in the outfit.
Ex-Blue Tony Dorigo feels the team are on the right path as he discusses the possibilities for Lampard's 'Youth Army':
"I'm delighted clubs like Chelsea are giving their youngsters a go. I always look at local homegrown talent and the fans absolutely love it, they love one of their own to come through the academy and play in that first team," former full-back Love Sport Radio.
"It has been difficult at the big clubs, I understand why because suddenly managers come and can't wait for these players to mature they're only three results away from the sack, so I get that.
"But you look at the Chelsea youth teams, the FA Cup winning youth teams that they've had over the seasons and you think surely there's got to be some kids in there that can go all the way.
"With what's happened with Frank coming back, they've had their chance, which I think is fantastic and we've seen Abraham, Mason Mount, Tomori they're doing wonderfully well, but of course they've had to go away to Championship clubs to get that experience initially, but I'm delighted they're back there and you keep looking down at the results and they're scoring. I think it's wonderful.
"I think for them to come through at the same time is a really big positive not only for Chelsea but for England as well. Are they the finished article? No. But I'll tell you what, they've been given the opportunity to show what they can do and already they're at such a high standard and they can only get better."
There's so much more to come for our young crop of players!
