Much controversy around Lovren's health issue
- Dejan Lovren told Croatian media he can't train at all due to stomach muscle issues
- He said he could play ahead of the game against Torino
- Media and fans find his behaviour 'not impressive'
This weekend Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren gave an interview to Sportske, Empire of the Kop is reporting. In this interview the Croatian international stated he can't train due to stomach muscle injuries. He said that he will need to see a doctor in the Netherlands.

"When did I start to feel it? I felt it during the World Cup. I played with pain and those three games killed me. But who wouldn’t play for Croatia at such a big tournament! After the World Cup finished, the pain increased. I can’t even sit in my car without feeling it and to get out of the car hurts like hell!" continued Lovren.
Lovren lied about his fitness. Club found out and Klopp is clearly not happy. You can either dwell on it or move on. Most if you don't even like him starting a game for us so what's with the fume— gabby (@gzewu) August 11, 2018
On the one hand, we all knew Lovren is not going to play tonight. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was clear on the matter at his pre-opener press conference. "Dejan will not be available for the weekend," he said.
Club need to clarify when they found out he won't be long at the club if it was yesterday— James hodge (@hodge_james) August 11, 2018
But less than a week ago Lovren told LFCTV that he was fit to play half an hour! Those words were said ahead of the friendly game against Torino. What's more important, they were said while the transfer window was still opened.
Should of cashed in right after the world cup and got another CB in.— RichyH (@richyhlfc) August 11, 2018
According to Empire of the Kop, Lovren might have lied about a fitness issue because otherwise the club could have signed a new centre-back. If that's the reason, then this kind of behaviour is absolutely inappropriate. We'll see what will be the club's reaction, if any.
