? Former Blaugrana Tello turns 27
- Tello was at Barcelona since 2002, having scored 20 goals for the first team
- He is currently at Betis but couldn't be happy with the amount of playing time he is getting
Remember Cristian Tello? The Sabadel-born winger turns 27 years old today. He was at Barcelona since 2002, having only left for Betis in the summer of 2017. Perhaps, Tello is another sad story of a La Masia gem who failed to establish himself in the Blaugrana first team. Still, his name shouldn't be forgotten.
FC Barcelona official Twitter account celebrated Tello's birthday with this video of his lovely goal against Deportivo back in the 2011/2012. Take a look at how the Spaniard dribbles past the defenders! What a player he could have become!
To be honest, Tello's records are quite impressive. Between 2011 and 2014, he made 84 appearances for the Catalans in all competitions, having scored 20 goals, four of which came in the Champions League matches. He won LaLiga in the 2012/2013 adding to the Copa del Rey trophy a year before.

Further seasons Tello spent on loans at Porto and Fiorentina, having finally joined Real Betis on a permanent basis for just £3.6m, as per Transfermarkt. During his debut 2017/2018 season at Betis he scored six goals and provided four assists in both LaLiga and Copa del Rey. Still, he capped only 1773 minutes of playing time during this run, which is quite a low figure, as per the same source.
Do you miss Tello at Barcelona?
