A page in Blaugrana history: The arrival of Samuel Eto'o
- The Cameroon international was signed on 12 August 2004
- The African scored total 128 goals in 195 games for the Catalans
Samuel Eto'o arrived at Barcelona exactly on this day - 12 August in 2004. Soon he became an indisputable starter and an important cog in the Blaugrana machine.
In total, the Cameroon-born striker played 195 official games wearing a Blaugrana jersey in all competitions, having scored 128 goals with 108 of them coming in LaLiga. He became the Spanish league's top scorer two times during his long spell at Barca: in the 2004/2005 season with 25 goals and a year later with one goal more.
Unfortunately, Eto'o and the newly appointed coach Josep Guardiola didn't see eye to eye which made the African leave in the summer of 2009. He joined Inter Milan as part of the record-breaking deal which also saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic landing at the Camp Nou stadium. During the following years Eto'o also played in Russia and England. Since 2015, Eto'o has been playing in Turkey.
At Barcelona, the Cameroon international won three La Liga titles, two much-desired Champions League trophies, as well as two Spanish Supercups and one Copa del Rey.
