RAC1: Dortmund's representative arrives in Barcelona to negotiate for Alcacer
- The German club hope to convince the striker to join them
- Real Betis drop out of the race
RAC1 reports Borussia Dortmund's representative has landed in Barcelona to negotiate with the club and to convince Paco Alcacer to move to Germany.
The Blaugrana has been a subject of interest for many clubs, as per reports in the press. Diario Sport claim that the Spaniard has been watched by Real Betis and Alaves. Other sources linked Alcacer with Premier League side Watford move which is no longer an option as the Premier League transfer window is already closed; as well as with FC Porto.
Alcacer's 2017/18 profile, as per Transfermarkd:
However, according to the recent report in the Catalan sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo, there is the only destination Alcacer wants to follow - Sevilla-based club Real Betis. However, RAC1 understands such move is no longer an option as Betis boss Quique Setien's primary focus is to strengthen the defence following 0-3 defeat against Levante.
The financial terms of the potential deal could become a real problem. None of the interested sides is willing to pay the asking price for the forward, so Alcacer could only go on a loan deal. Moreover, his high salary demands are another obstacle. He is reported to be more interested in money rather than getting more playing time that's why he would opt for the best deal in terms of finances. However, Dortmund are reportedly prepared to pay his full wages during the season-long loan deal.
Paco Alcacer arrived in Barcelona from Valencia for an impressive transfer fee of €30m. He was also linked with a Mestalla return, however, this deal also fell through. During his two years at the club, the striker has never managed to fit in and, eventually, scored just 15 goals in all competitions.
