Messi & Ronaldo to watch Copa Libertadores final together in Madrid
- Both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will be attending the second leg of River vs Boca at the Santiago Bernabeu
- Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants the two superstars to sit together
Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi will be in attendance for Copa Libertadores final's second leg between River Place and Boca Juniors at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Sunday. For the Portuguese, it would be his first time back to Real Madrid's stadium since his shocking transfer to Juventus in the summer.
Real Madrid's president Florentino Perez has a plan to sit both football superstars together in the presidential box as a gesture of respect to their achievements. Spanish FA (RFEF) and CONMEBOL approve the idea.
With Messi having to play in the city derby against Espanyol on Saturday, the Argentinian is expected to travel to Madrid on the day of the game. Ronaldo, who has a game with Juventus on Friday, is understood to be planning to spend the whole weekend in the Spanish capital.
It was confirmed last week that the scandalous second leg of the Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors will be held not in their native Argentina but instead at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. The match will allegedly take place next Sunday, on 9 November.
The latest allocation for the Copa Libertadores final tickets is as follows: 40,000 tickets for the Argentineans who live in Spain, 22,000 for organisers, 5,000 each for River Plate and Boca Juniors to sell to fans in Argentina and the remaining 9,000 for Real Madrid members. With the capacity of the Santiago Bernabeu estimating around 81,000 spectators, Madrid members could scoop the 11% of the total tickets.
Originally, the second leg of the final was scheduled for Saturday, 24 November; however, River Plate's home ground Monumental got suspended following the terrible incident in which Boca Juniors team bus was attacked by the rival fans and saw some of the players injured and delivered in the hospital.
