Barca name reasons for surprise Boateng signing
- Barcelona confirmed the signing of Kevin-Prince Boateng from Sassuolo on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy in the summer, yesterday.
- The club have claimed that the guarantee of a quick adaptation and awareness of European major leagues were the reasons behind their decision to bring the 31-year-old at Camp Nou.
Barcelona announced the loan deal for Kevin-Prince Boateng from Sassuolo with an option to buy the 31-year-old for €8m at the end of the season. Boateng spent the last four seasons changing the Serie A, the Bundesliga and La Liga clubs. The Ghanian has scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in 13 matches this season in the Serie A and Coppa Italia.
Barcelona have claimed that Boateng's awareness of European major leagues and the guarantee of his quick adaptation were the reasons behind their decision to sign the alleged back-up option for Luis Suarez.
The club's statement reads: "Kevin-Prince Boateng is a footballer who will guarantee a quick adaptation to the team.
"Aware of the four major European leagues - he has played in Bundesliga, Premier League, Serie A and Spanish League - he is a player who has scored goals wherever he has played."
