Guillem Balague provides update on Denis Suarez's move to Arsenal
- Barcelona are allegedly in talks with Arsenal as the Gunners want to land the 25-year-old on half a year loan at Emirates Stadium in January.
- Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has claimed the Premier League side don't want to sign an obligation to buy Suarez in the summer for around €30m, as they are now working on signing a new defender.
“The agreement between Denis Suarez and Barcelona is that he can go on loan,” the expert said on the Guillem Balague Transfer Show, as cited by the Daily Star. “But they want Arsenal to agree an obligation to buy him at the end of the season €25m (£22m) and €30m (£26.5m).
“Now that’s what is holding the deal at the moment because Arsenal don’t want to just agree on that just yet. They have other priorities. For new faces for Arsenal, it’s going to be Denis Suarez and perhaps a defender, not necessarily a centre-back.
“But in any case, because the other deal has not been done, Arsenal are not committing yet. Barcelona want to sort it all out this week but there’s no guarantee that could happen.
“Denis Suarez has said either Arsenal or I’m staying put. So we’re still going to have to wait for that one.”
Asked about the Barca flop after the 2-0 win against Chelsea on Saturday, Arsenal's boss Unai Emery replied: “The club is working with every situation that can help us. I cannot speak about individual players.
“I know the club is working with different possibilities if it can help us this month for our competition. I believe they work and I know the transfer window is difficult for the market.
“If one player comes to help us I am happy but the club is doing that and I am going to wait.”
