Valverde insists Barcelona 'not weakened' in title race despite two consecutive draws

- Barcelona boss Valverde insists that the Catalans are in the same position as before the weekend: six points ahead of their closest rival in the table.
- Valverde doesn't want to blame Barca's poor form on a tough schedule, with other teams having the same problems.
Barcelona drew Athletic Bilbao 0-0 at San Mames in the 23rd round of La Liga. The Catalans failed to create any danger in front of Iago Herrerin's goal except for Lionel Messi's shot that was denied by the bar in the first half. On the other end, Marc-Andre ter Stegen had to save his team twice after Basque players' shots to give hisĀ side a chance to win the match. The team looked tired andĀ sluggish with Messi not being 100% ready, Dembele returning from an injury and Suarez, Vidal and Coutinho simply not having their best day.

Thus, BarcelonaĀ go six points clear at the top of the table with Real Madrid in the second place. Los Blancos have beaten their neighbours AtleticoĀ on the 23rd Matchday 3-1 getting ahead of Diego Simeone's side.

Despite Los Blancos reducing the gap, Ernesto Valverde insists that Barcelona haven't lost any ground on their rivals in La Liga title race.
āWe began the matchday six points clear and we end it in the same position,ā Valverde told the media after the game at the San Mames, as cited by Marca.
āThat means, if my maths is accurate, we are still in a very strong position but of course we know we must keep winning games from now until the end of the season.
āI do not want to put this [setback] down to our fixture schedule, all teams have this if you want to be challenging for every trophy, so I do not believe it is an issue.ā
Common misconception about Valverde is he prefers muscles rather than ball-players (when everyone is fit, 2 of his starters in MF are ball-players). His biggest problem is he values experience too much. He's too hesitant when it comes to youth. That's a big issue at this club.

I think barca board fear to sack valverde and selling of suarez
Valverde go out thank...!!
Suarez has been one of our problem upfront but due to magnificent displayed messi has been given to the team has really covered Suarez poor performances for over two season a clearcut example is for over two season Suarez has never scored an away goal in a champions league yet he's untouchable and he does play ninety minutes for the sake of his past glory. Its high time valverde must realized that the over relaying on Suarez cannot help us to win the triple we are aiming at this season.
