Sport: Coutinho's agents ready to discuss his future; United move ruled out
- The Brazilian has only scored 10 goals in 46 matches this season.
- His agents are set to discuss his future after Tuesday's UCL match.
- Barca reportedly want to recoup his full £142m transfer fee.
- Manchester United were previously linked but the fans seemingly haven't forgotten Coutinho's Liverpool past.
- Chelsea or PSG could still land the Brazilian while the Catalans are allegedly still 'betting' on him.
Philippe Coutinho remains the most expensive Barcelona transfer as they signed him for £142million in the January 2018. Unfortunately, he hasn't been pretty impressive during the course of the 2018/2019 campaign. The Brazilian has only managed 10 goals in 46 matches and is heavily linked with a potential Camp Nou exit.
The most recent report in the Barcelona-based Diario Sport could reassure the Cules, however. Apparently, Barcelona aren't considering selling Coutinho as their main priority even though the player himself reportedly contemplates over the possibility of the exit. In any case, his agents are set to meet the club's representatives after Tuesday's crucial Champions League tie against Manchester United.
If Coutinho is destined to leave, which side could possibly land him? Barca are allegedly determined to recoup his entire transfer fee which means not every club could afford the Brazilian. Manchester United used to be one of the prime contenders, however, this move is now ruled out, according to Sport. Coutinho received plenty of jeers during the Old Trafford showdown last week as the Red Devils' supporters clearly haven't forgotten his Liverpool past.
Chelsea could possibly sign Coutinho, however, they are still waiting for their two-window transfer ban to get lifted. Otherwise, the Brazilian could join Paris Saint-Germain to reunite with Neymar. It is well known that the ex-Blaugrana is working hard to bring his fellow countrymen at the Parc des Princes stadium.
Still, Diario Sport insist that Barcelona 'are betting on Coutinho'. They reportedly voiced this message directly to the player. Despite his recent lack of consistency, Ernesto Valverde is still confident the midfielder is able to deliver when he is needed. Moreover, he is well-loved by his Blaugrana teammates, including the heavyweights such as Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
However, the 26-year-old is rumoured to have bigger ambitions. Apparently, he wants to be in a team built around him, as it were at Liverpool. In any case, Coutinho's future is yet to be resolved.
