- The midfielder cost Barca 75 million fixed.
- He refuses to discuss his potential salary at Barca: "Money does not necessarily buy happiness."
- The 22-year-old also admits he will simply put his last name, De Jong, on the back of his kit.
This January, Barcelona secured one of the most important transfers in the club's history as they managed to get Frenkie de Jong's signature. The 22-year-old is already compared to the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta. The Catalans paid 75 million fixed for the midfielder plus an extra 11 million in add-ons. He will join the squad this summer.
De Jong discusses his long-anticipated move in an interview with Mundo Deportivo. However, he refuses to reveal his potential salary: "What am I going to earn? [Laughs]. That's not something I will discuss. I am happy with what I am doing now and what I am going to do at Barca. Money does not necessarily buy happiness."
The midfielder also admits he won't change the name on the back of his kit. Previously, it was rumoured he will receive a hefty bonus from the shirt sponsor if he changes his name on the back to simply 'Frenkie'. However, he now insists he will stick to the last name, De Jong: "My shirt number at Barcelona has still not been confirmed, but the name will simply be De Jong."
