Inter legend Zanetti stands up for Messi amid CONMEBOL criticism
- Javier defends his compatriot and asks the AFA to back him as well.
- Zanetti treats Messi as an indispensable part of Argentina's national team.
- Barcelona forward has previously accused Copa America and CONMEBOL officials of corruption.
"I know him (Messi) very well and I know what he feels for the national team. He has to be for who he is, he should not lose his essence but do what he feels should be done. We have to support him because he sees a future, he gives us a guideline from which we can have an important future".
Also, the 45-year-old has urged the Argentinian Football Association to support Leo as well.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi could face severe consequences following his infamous rant targeted at the Copa America officials. In fact, the Argentinian lashed out at the referees twice - after the 2-0 semi-finals defeat at the hands of Brazil and after his scandalous expulsion in the third-place playoff against Chile. Messi didn't even show up to collect his bronze medal, stating he didn't want to take part in this corruption.
