It now seems that the Antoine Griezmann transfer saga is finally reaching its eventual completion. Numerous news outlets have outlined that he is set to become Barcelona new player already this Friday, July 12.
This is the day when the Catalan giants are going to pay his €120million release clause which would make the 28-year-old free from the contractual obligations with Atletico Madrid and legally allowed to join Barca.
No wonder the Catalan press are going a bit crazy. Both Barcelona-based newspapers, Diario Sport and Mundo Deportivo, put Griezmann on their respective covers.
Diario Sport: 'Griezmann Today'
Mundo Deportivo: 'Griezmann Cule'
Both Catalan sources confirm the initial reports. Barcelona are going to pay Griezmann's €120million release clause on Friday. As soon as Atletico receive the transaction, the Frenchman would be free. Afterwards, the Catalans would be able to officially announce this transfer with Griezmann heavily expected to join the pre-season training with his future Blaugrana teammates next week.
The alleged presentation is said to be scheduled for Monday, July 15. Because of the tensed relationships between Griezmann and the Camp Nou faithful, the ceremony is not expected to be open for the fans.
