RAC1: Junior Firpo is allegedly 'the best positioned' to join Barca
- The left-back reportedly has a €40m release clause which could be lowered.
- He could become Jordi Alba's back-up.
- Last season, the 22-year-old scored three goals in 29 matches.
RAC1 provide a rather optimistic report on Barca's potential future transfer: Barcelona are certainly not finished their business on the transfer market as the Real Betis' left-back Junior Firpo is said to be 'the best positioned' to join the Catalan giants this summer. RAC1 claim he has a 40 million euros release clause, however, this sum could be possibly lowered.
Barcelona's first-choice left-back Jordi Alba currently doesn't have any senior back-ups. Alba is certainly indispensable given his incredible partnership with Lionel Messi. However, he has recently turned 30 years old.
The Catalans have long been targetting Junior Firpo alongside another left-back, highly experienced Filipe Luis. The latter could have possibly arrived at Barcelona on a free transfer, however, the latest reports claim the Brazilian has been discarded by Barca.
Junior Firpo is 22 years old. Last season, he made 29 appearances for Real Betis in all competitions and scored three goals. Curiously, one of the goals arrived in the infamous 4-3 away win at FC Barcelona. Despite Leo Messi's brace, the Seville-based side were relentless and inflicted the Catalans the first home loss in La Liga in YEARS.
Junior Firpo's stats, as per Transfermarkt:
By the way, Junior Firpo was also a part of the title-winning Spain U21 side who claimed the U21 European Championship trophy earlier this summer.
