AS: Riqui Puig absent from first-team training, player returns to B team
- Barca are currently training with 17 first-team members and 5 B players.
- Despite attending the senior's four previous training sessions, Puig returned to the B team.
- It still remains unclear what stands behind the decision.
According to Madrid-based outlet Diario AS, La Masia's most promising midfielder Riqui Puig was absent from today's morning training session. Reportedly, the 19-year-old returned to the B team to continue training under coach Garcia Pimienta.
The reason for his absence is still unknown. There hasn't been any announcement regarding an injury or anything else. It is also unclear whether Riqui will miss the remaining part of the pre-season with the senior squad or if he will return at a later point.
As a reminder, Puig was expected to travel with the first team for the Asian tour, as Barcelona are set to take on Chelsea and Iniesta's current club Vissel Kobe in Japan next week.
Besides him, Oriol Busquets also missed the training. Nonetheless, to other La Masia players have been called instead, Araujo and Monchu. They trained alongside three more B players: Carles Perez, Inaki Pena and Collado.
