Sport: Ansu Fati extends Barca contract despite United's efforts to lure La Masia starlet away
- The forward has agreed to sign a three-year extension at Barcelona.
- Several Premier League clubs have been interested in Ansu.
- Barca managed to convince the 16-year-old to stay by promising him a promotion to Barca B.
La Masia stars are in high demand in Europe. And with English clubs more than ready to pay high salaries to teenagers, Barca are having a hard time keeping them.
The latest Barcelona youth player to attract the attention of Premier League giants is Anssumane 'Ansu' Fati. The left winger has finished 2018/19 season as the highest goalscorer for Barca Juvenil A side that managed to reach the semifinals of UEFA Youth League.
The 16-year-old was reportedly on the radar of Manchester United this spring and summer, having previously been linked with a move to Manchester City. Newcastle United, AS Monaco, Borussia Dortmund and Nice are also interested.
Despite all the offers he had on the table, Fati has finally renewed his contract with Barcelona for three more years with an option to add two more to the deal, Diario Sport report.
The club have agreed to promote the exciting forward for Barca B team, at least for the pre-season. It's expected that during the 2019/20 campaign the player will be alternating between Barca B and Juvenil A teams.
