El Pais: PSG need to sell Neymar in order to afford Mbappe's new contract - Good news for Barca?
- Neymar has reportedly informed PSG about his intention to leave the club this summer.
- The Ligue 1 team plan to make Mbappe the second-highest earner in the world.
- In order to afford the Frenchman's new contract, the club need to sell Neymar.
- This could facilitate the Brazilian's return to Camp Nou.
According to Spain's second most popular news outlet El Pais, Paris Saint-Germain might be forced to sell Neymar this summer in order to be able to afford Kylian Mbappe's renewal. Reportedly, the French team want to make the youngster the second-best-paid player in the world by offering him a staggering €50m per season deal.
However, it would be difficult to pull the deal off considering Neymar's current salary. The Brazilian is now earning €38m per season. Thus, PSG might be inclined to sell the 27-year-old this summer in order to raise funds. This would significantly facilitate Ney's return to Catalonia.
Moreover, there is another sign that the French club is considering selling the ex-Blaugrana winger. According to an earlier report from highly-credible RMC Sport, PSG are currently looking to land Juventus' Paulo Dybala as a replacement.
However, recent comments from the club's sporting director Leonardo Araujo confirm that Barca are yet to make an offer for the Brazil international:
"Honestly, nothing's different from what it was last time we spoke [at a presser]. Nothing at all. Nothing's moved, and there's no concrete offer for Neymar. He's with us, he's a PSG player."
"Barcelona offering a swap deal? I repeat, there's no concrete offer. It's the same situation as it was 10 days ago."
