Rakitic addresses exit rumours
- The Croat has been linked with a potential exit this summer.
- PSG and Man United are believed to be his possible destinations.
- The 31-year-old has started the pre-season with the rest of the squad and intends to stay put.
Following Frenkie de Jong's arrival at Camp Nou, rumours started spreading that Ivan Rakitic could be on his way out. Reportedly, Manchester United are interested in the 31-year-old while Barca have tried to include the midfielder in a swap deal for Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar.
Nonetheless, Ivan travelled with Barca to Japan for the pre-season tour an looks to stay put despite the constant rumours:
"My future? It’s a situation I’m used to since I’ve been here. Same thing happened last year. I’ve spoke with the club and Valverde and the idea is the same. And my intention is to stay, I’m open but my idea is clear to keep enjoying my years of contract at Barca."
Instead of worrying about his future, Rakitic is focusing on Barca's upcoming matches against Chelsea and Vissel Kobe:
"It will also be very special to play two games here, especially Vissel Kobe against Iniesta, Villa and Samper, who are part of our family"
French outlet L'Equipe report that Ivan has been included in a Coutinho, Rakitic plus €40m bid for Neymar. It should be remembered that Paris Saint-Germain have tried to sign the Croat last summer but Valverde allegedly blocked the move.
Ernesto Valverde is said to value Rakitic and sees him as an important player for the team. Ivan has been an undisputed starter under both Luis Enrique and Valverde while also being one of the most frequently used footballers in the squad. Manchester United are also named as a possible destination.
Rakitic's record from the last season:
- 54 games
- 5 goals
- 10 assists
- 4237 minutes
