Brand-new attack vs La Masia time: Select Blaugrana XI vs Chelsea from 3 options!
Leave your choice in the comments and explain your pick!
Blaugranas are getting ready for their first match of the pre-season. The Catalans will face Chelsea in the Rakuten Cup on July 23 at the Saitama Stadium - one of their two games in Japan.
Valverde must pick out a line-up that would allow him to try new solutions in build-up play and attack and finish the match with a victory. But which line-up would YOU choose? Tribuna.com offer you three variations of the potential line-up, as usual.
Option 1. Go for the best with a focus on pace upfront
We expect Valverde to come out all guns blazing in his first clash of 2019/20 and to start with his strongest line-up. He will have a chance to test Barca new signings - Antoine Griezmann in attack and Frenkie de Jong in midfield. With Suarez absent, the Frenchman should start upfront accompanied by Ousmane Dembele on the left and Malcom on the right. This attacking trio will be unstoppable!
Option 2. Griezmann and Valverde's favourite - 4-4-2
The Frenchman's favourite position - the one he mastered in his Atletico years - is one of the second striker. Why not try him in the same role for Barca? Malcom can partner up with Griezmann as he also used to play as a number 9 while at Bordeaux. Dembele will roam on the left, while Carles Alena can feature as an attacking midfielder on the right side. De Jong, meanwhile, will play in a double-pivot with Busquets - what can go wrong?
Option 3. What about La Masia?
Yes, we know Valverde would never be that daring to start this XI. And yet one can dream, right? Just imagine: de Jong, Riqui and Alena dominating the midfield. We can already see the log-awaited treble coming. Can you?
