Sport: Why Barca new signing Abe won't be able to feature against Chelsea
- The youngster has been widely expected to feature against Chelsea.
- However, he won't be able to do so.
- The 20-year-old has a heavy knock on his hip that prevented him from training with the team.
- The midfielder will probably play against Vissel Kobe on Saturday.
Last week, Barcelona have signed Hiroki Abe. The former Kashima Antlers' star joined the Barcelona B team as he has signed a four-year contract.
The Japanese fans were probably eager to see their idol playing against Chelsea on Tuesday, but they would have to wait a little bit longer for Abe's Barca debut.
The youngster hasn't been able to join his new teammates when they trained in Tokyo due to a heavy knock he has on his hip from some previous session. The injury isn't a fresh one but, according to Diario Sport, it has been causing the young midfielder some discomfort. Abe trained alone on Monday and isn't expected to feature against the Blue team.
In any case, the 20-year-old should be fit for the Saturday's clash against Vissel Kobe.
Abe's transfer fee hasn't been officially revealed but Madrid-based Diario AS believe it may estimate 2 million euros. They also back the 20-year-old to feature for the Blaugrana first team during the pre-season tour to Japan which starts next week.
Originally a left midfielder, Hiroki Abe is also able to play on the opposite flank. He has also been used as a second striker. The youngster played 48 games in the J League and scored four goals. In 2018, he was named the Best Young Player of the Year. Moreover, a couple of weeks ago he made his international debut in the Copa America against Chile. This season, Hiroki Abe has made 14 league appearances for Kashima and scored once.
