De Jong on Barca debut: 'Not a really good feeling'
- The Dutchman couldn't prevent Barca's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea.
- He says after the game: "I don't think we played that well."
Frenkie de Jong only lasted on the pitch for 45 minutes but still managed to impress on his debut. The Dutchman was subbed on after the break as Barcelona lost to Chelsea 2-1 in a friendly in Japan. The 22-year-old controlled the midfield as if he has always been a part of the Blaugrana squad.
De Jong addresses the press after the game as he comments on his debut and laments Barcelona's inability to show their best display. He says, as quoted by ESPN: "I'm happy to make my first appearance for Barcelona but I don't think we played that well. We lost. So, after all, not a really good feeling."
Frenkie de Jong fared especially well in the midfield in the second half. For example, he completed all 42 passes he attempted during the final 45 minutes.
Barcelona lost to Chelsea this Tuesday with Ivan Rakitic scoring the only goal. However, he could still leave the Catalans this summer especially following Frenkie de Jong's €75million transfer. Even the coach, Ernesto Valverde, has recently hinted at the Croatian's potential exit.
