Now it's official. Barcelona have lost one of their brightest La Masia graduates, Xavi Simons, to Paris Saint-Germain. The Parisians have just confirmed the 16-year-old has signed a three-year contract with them.
Xavi Simons' departure has been confirmed earlier on Tuesday. He also wrote a heartfelt farewell letter: "Until I was 16, I felt the love of everyone, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will not forget my days with you.".
Xavi Simons was probably the most admired La Masia youngster by most of Barcelona fans due to his "captain spirit" which was often compared to the one of Puyol's.
Xavi Simons is yet another victim of the disastrous influence of well-known Mino Raiola. Rumour has it, the super-agent advised the Dutchman against signing a renewal with Barcelona unless they have offered him a hefty new deal. The terms were allegedly unacceptable by the Catalan giants which forced Xavi to leave.
