JUST IN: Pep Segura could leave Barca in the 'coming days', Abidal to replace him
- Several huge changes are expected in the Barca boardroom.
- Diario Sport claim Pep Segura is set to leave his position as the club's general manager very soon.
- His role as the La Masia chief could be handed to legendary Patrick Kluivert.
- Meanwhile, Eric Abidal is set to become Barca's new general manager.
It seems there is a total revolution in the Blaugrana boardroom. According to Barcelona-based newspaper Diario Sport, Pep Segura is expected to officially leave his position as the club's general manager in the coming days or even hours. Allegedly, there are just some signatures missing on the mutual agreement between the sides.
Why is Segura leaving Barcelona? Apparently, this has to do with the alleged upcoming appointment of Blaugrana legend Patrick Kluivert as the new head of the La Masia Academy. The president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, seems to be fine with this change and Segura's eventual departure.
Meanwhile, it's another Blaugrana legend, Eric Abidal, who is tipped to become Segura's replacement, as per Diario Sport as well. Abidal has been serving as the club's sporting director for already a year. He is responsible for the arrivals of Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann.
Previously, Madrid-based Diario AS have already predicted Segura's potential resignation due to a lack of confidence from the other board members. This was also underlined after Barca's unexpected defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League semifinals last season.
Earlier this summer, Barca have already ended their association with Jordi Mestre and Guillermo Amor.
