Iniesta collects La Liga awards even while playing in Japan
- Barca legend is appointed as an ambassador of LaLiga Icons.
- The award regards all the best players who left a significant mark in Spanish football.
- Earlier on, only Iker Casillas was the winner of the prize.
Andres Iniesta has been appointed as the second LaLiga Icons ambassador, which is a relatively new award created by La Liga officials.
"Iniesta has been one of the best players or almost the greatest midfielder that Spain has had... He has scored a lot of very important goals with his team, FC Barcelona," said La Liga president Javier Tebas during the presentation.
The 35-year-old was glad to be awarded and promised "to collaborate and help in every way he could" regarding La Liga's influence all over the world.
Among other Barca representatives, Iniesta's old friend Samuel Eto'o was also present.
Andres Iniesta spent 17 years at Barcelona and won 32 titles during this process. His trophy cabinet includes four Champions League and nine La Liga crowns. During this run, he made 674 first-team appearances for the Catalan giants in all competitions and scored 57 goals. Currently, the midfielder plays for the J-League side Vissel Kobe which will face his former club this Saturday, July 27.
