Ser: Barca board could be at loggerheads with Valverde over future left-back
- The Catalans are still looking for Jordi Alba's back-up.
- The coach allegedly wants Real Betis' Junior Firpo as he values the La Liga experience the most.
- The club's technical secretary is said to be pushing for Augsburg's Philipp Max, however.
- Bayern Munich's star David Alaba is also an option.
Barcelona are still looking for an experienced left-back who could potentially cover up for indispensable Jordi Alba. There are still plenty of names emerging in the Spanish and Catalan press which could cause a real headache within the Blaugrana coaching staff and board room.
And now highly influential Cadena SER report that Ernesto Valverde indeed has disagreements with the Catalans' technical secretary over the preferrable candidate to strengthen the left-back position.
The German could probably cost Blaugrana around €20m, as Barcelona-based top source Diario Sport have claimed recently. Firpo, meanwhile, is priced at €27m, as per various sources, including highly reputable Sky Sports and Gianluca di Marzio. However, the recent reports indicate that the Firpo deal could be close to its completion.
Apart from Firpo and Max, Barcelona are said to be heavily interested in Bayern Munich's star David Alaba, as Cadena SER have also confirmed. Look at the statistical comparisons of Firpo and Alaba, provided by Tribuna.com:
