Cope: Bartomeu allegedly contacts PSG about Neymar
- The Blaugrana chief has only enquired whether the player is put on the market.
- PSG keep firm in their stance to keep the wantaway star.
- They insist Neymar is not for sale.
Boom! Yet another twist in the neverending Neymar transfer saga. According to Cadena Cope, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has finally contacted his Paris Saint-Germain counterpart Nasser Al-Khelaifi regarding the future of the ex-Blaugrana striker. Cope believe Bartomeu has only enquired whether PSG are going to put the Brazilian on the market.
However, the Parisians are reportedly firm in their stance to keep the wantaway star despite his clear desire to leave. Cope insist the response from Al-Khelaifi is rather short: 'Neymar is not for sale'.
Cope make a bold assumption that Barcelona no longer view Neymar's future at PSG. However, they haven't made any concrete offer for the Brazilian either, as per the same source.
Wednesday's report from the French top source L'Equipe provided a worrying update on Neymar's future. Apparently, the Parisians' demands make his transfer virtually impossible. That's why 'the most realistic scenario' is for him to remain at PSG.
The Parisians could only allow him to leave for the exact sum they signed him in 2017, the infamous €222million. Barcelona, meanwhile, are unlikely to afford such a huge transfer fee. They have been working on the 'cash-plus-players'. For example, Sky in Germany reported last week that Barca offered €100m and two of their players for Neymar. Still, PSG are said to be have no interest in these bids.
