- Eric Abidal, meanwhile, is expected to replace Segura as the club's new general manager.
Now it's official! FC Barcelona just confirm via their official website that their contract with Pep Segura has been rescinded by a mutual agreement. He will now leave his position as the club's general manager.
This news arrives just a day after the official appointment of Blaugrana legend Patrick Kluivert as the new head of the La Masia Academy. The Dutchman has signed a two-year contract with the Catalans.
Previously, Madrid-based Diario AS have already predicted Segura's potential resignation due to a lack of confidence from the other board members. This was also underlined after Barca's unexpected defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League semifinals last season.
Meanwhile, it's another Blaugrana legend, Eric Abidal, who is tipped to become Segura's replacement, as per Diario Sport as well. Abidal has been serving as the club's sporting director for already a year. He is responsible for the arrivals of Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann.
