OFFICIAL: Vermaelen joins Vissel Kobe
- The Belgian will join Iniesta, Villa and Samper at Vissel Kobe.
- The 33-year-old left Barca in June 2018 due to his contract expiry.
- Thomas made 53 appearances for Blaugrana since his arrival in 2014.
Thomas Vermaelen has been officially announced as a Vissel Kobe player.
Curiously enough, the announcement came just before the kick-off between Barcelona and Vissel Kobe in Barca's 2nd pre-season friendly.
However, Thomas won't take part in today's match due to objective reasons.
In the J-League side, the 33-year-old joins Andres Iniesta, David Villa and Sergi Samper.
During his Blaugrana tenure, he scooped four La Liga trophies, three Copa del Rey titles and one Champions League accolade. In total, he made just 53 appearances for the Catalan giants even though he lasted there for five years. Vermaelen's only goal against Malaga during the 2015/2016 campaign. This goal earned Barca a narrow home win over their opponents.
