Perhaps one of the best parts of the Japan tour has been the chance to see our young players perform. This time around, Ernesto Valverde decided to count more on the Barcelona B players with Riqui Puig even starting against both Chelsea and Vissel Kobe.
Besides Riqui, another player from the reserves that impressed the Basque coach has been Carles Perez, as the winger scored both goals in Barca's win over Vissel Kobe. As a result, Valverde revealed he is ready to put more trust in the academy graduates next season:
"The fact these guys are involved and are scoring goals is good because it establishes them as alternatives. We're happy with them. When LaLiga starts, and the real games begin, we'll see which players we can count on."
Besides the duo, other Barca B players that have impressed so far have been Guillem Jaime and Araujo. The left-back went on to assist Barca's first goal against Kobe while Araujo put in a decent performance alongside Clement Lenglet.
