Griezmann on Dembele's off the pitch controversies: 'We're here to help him grow'
- Ousmane has been often criticized for his unprofessional lifestyle.
- Griezmann, one of his best friends, claims the whole squad is there to help him improve.
- Dembele was among the first to start the pre-season at Barca this summer.
Ousmane Dembele is for sure one of the most talented players in the world. However, his first two seasons at Barcelona have been marred by injuries which saw him miss several important games. As a result, many have criticized the 22-year-old for his alleged bad lifestyle.
Antoine Griezmann, Barca's new signing and a good friend of Ousmane's, has recently revealed that Dembele's problems are, in fact, nothing new and that the whole squad is there for him:
"Every player has problems at the start of their career. I had them too and I improved and learnt. He's intelligent, knows how things are and we're here to help him, and help him grow."
Dembele alongside Griezmann in training:
As a reminder, Dembele had been attacked for two main reasons. First, his diet has been far below the standards for a professional athlete. And second, the Frenchman is known to have been late for training sessions and even missed one training session without telling the staff.
However, it looks like Ous is determined to improve. The Catalans have reportedly hired a special chef to work with the Frenchman and help him maintain a healthy diet. Additionally, Dembele, alongside Jean-Clair Todibo, was the first player to start the pre-season this summer at the club's facilities. He started working on his fitness even with the coaching staff still on holiday.
Do you think Dembele could significantly improve this season?
