Barca to start selling players from overcrowded B team
- Barca B already have 35 players in their squad.
- Two more signings are expected.
- The board will soon have a meeting to decide which players should leave, either on loan or on permanent deals.
According to Catalan-based outlet Diario Sport, the club is currently facing a serious problem - the academy is overcrowded. Currently, Barcelona B have a squad of 35 players, a number too high to start the season. Firstly, the club won't be able to register all the players. Secondly, having this many players in the squad could stagnate the growth of several players as not all of them will be getting enough playing time.
Reportedly, the Barca's board and more specifically Eric Abidal, Bakero and newly-appointed La Masia director Patrick Kluivert will hold a meeting to who should stay and who should be offloaded. The B squad could end up being trimmed down to only 25 players.
Barca B current squad:
Goalkeepers: Inaki Pena, Carevic, Sergi Puig
Defenders: Guillem, Chumi, Mingueza, Cuenca, Arnau Comas, Vilarrasa, Van Beijnen, Miranda, Morer, Araujo, Santi Bueno
Midfielders: Monchu, Sarsanedas, Lucas de Vega, McGuane, Peque, Serrano, Riqui Puig, Oriol Busquets, Collado, Abe, Ludovit Reis, Calavera, Ilaix, Jandro Orellana
Attackers: Abel Ruiz, Marques, Gabriel Novaes, Ballou, Carles Perez, Ansu and Kike Saverio.
Moreover, Barca are expected to finalize the transfers of Brazilian talent Tailson and Ecuadorian left-back Aucas. However, Barca B coach Garcia Pimienta currently has only 22 players for the pre-season training, with several youngsters called up by Valverde for the Japan tour and others like Miranda and Abel Ruiz called up for international duty with Spain U19.
Interestingly enough, Moussa Wague isn't part of the squad provided by Diario Sport which could mean that the right-back will be promoted to the first team this season already.
Do you think Barca should loan out Puig, Miranda and other top talents?
