Xavi Hernandez has recently made his debut as Al-Sadd new head coach. He is currently quite busy making his steps of his managerial career in Qatar. However, the legendary midfielder is still following closely the progress of his former club, FC Barcelona.
Naturally, Xavi comments on his ex-club's recent transfer dealings as well. For example, he compares two Blaugrana midfielders, Arturo Vidal and Frenkie de Jong. They may be different as night an day but could still be extremely useful for Ernesto Valverde's playing style.
Diario AS quote Xavi as saying: "Both are good. Arturo Vidal gives you so many things like intensity, he gives you timing, sacrifice, he steals balls, he doesn't lose them easily. I think he is a complete footballer. He is a footballer with a very good level, like De Jong."
He continues: "We saw the other day De Jong is a footballer who can mark an era in Barcelona. He is able to dominate the game, he sees it easily and doesn't lose the ball. He also makes sacrifices to work defensively. I think they are top-level players, very good for Barca."
Vidal hasn't yet returned from the extended holidays after his Copa America exploits. The Chilean finished fourth after losing 2-1 in the third-place playoff to Argentina.
De Jong, meanwhile, has already played against both Chelsea and Vissel Kobe. The 22-year-old has significantly impressed with his ability to control the ball and boss the midfield. For example, he completed all 42 passes he attempted in 45 minutes against the Blues earlier this week.
