Bizarre statement by ESPN: Real Madrid consider Neymar as alternative to Pogba
- The players occupy different positions.
- Moreover, Blancos have already enough wingers within their ranks.
- Still, Florentino Perez may be so desperate for a Galactico signing that he could go after Neymar.
A brand new twist in the neverending Neymar transfer saga. According to ESPN, the Brazilian is now considered to be Real Madrid's Plan B should they fail to secure the long-anticipated Paul Pogba signing. Apparently, Paris Saint-Germain are doing whatever they can in order to prevent Neymar's Blaugrana return from happening.
It should be noted, however, that Neymar is unable to become Pogba's replacement or alternative simply because the players occupy two different positions on the pitch. The Brazilian is an attacking winger while the Frenchman is a central midfielder. Moreover, Real Madrid have no need in another player of Neymar's profile as they already have enough wingers within their ranks.
ESPN believe the main reason behind this potential transfer could be Florentino Perez's burning desire to sign a Galactico player. After all, he started following Neymar even before he joined Barcelona in the summer of 2013. Moreover, the relationships between PSG and Blancos are quite good.
Still, ESPN also admit it would be difficult for Real Madrid to land Neymar. They haven't made any official bids for the Brazilian. His enormous €222million transfer valuation is also difficult to afford. PSG, meanwhile, aren't going to accept the 'cash-plus-player' deals or loans with an obligation to buy.
