Pique: 'There is no club in the world that plays with as much pressure as Barcelona'
- The veteran defender slams the media for excessive expectations.
- He says: "If we don’t win a treble, people think it’s a bad season."
- Previously, he has also stated that Barca deserve more credit for their domestic achievements.
Gerard Pique opens up on Barcelona's recent successes which were limited only to the La Liga triumph last season. The Catalans targeted a treble but sensational defeats at the hands of Valencia and Liverpool cost them Copa del Rey and Champions League respectively.
Pique insists Barcelona sustain too much pressure from both the fans and the media. That's what he says: "There is no club in the world that plays with as much pressure as FC Barcelona. if we don’t win a treble, people think it’s a bad season."
Previously, the veteran defender has already stated that the Catalans deserve to be treated with respect for their domestic glory.
He says, as quoted by ESPN: "To [win eight of 11 leagues] in Spain, which has one of the strongest leagues, deserves a lot of credit. It's not valued because we win it by 15 or 20 points. Instead of adding value because we've been superior to the rest, it's taken away."
That's what the Argentinean said: "Last season ended with a bitter taste, but we have to give value to La Liga, the eighth we have won in 11 years. That's important and maybe we don't give enough value to what we have done."
