Klopp refuses to comment on Coutinho's alleged pursuit
- The German doesn't give any answer when asked whether the Brazilian has been offered to Liverpool.
- Two weeks ago, he already described this potential transfer as 'not possible'.
- There are slim chances of Coutinho's Premier League return this summer.
Liverpool are starting the 2019/2020 Premier League season already this Friday, August 9. During the traditional pre-match presser, Jurgen Klopp is naturally asked about the much-talked-about Philippe Coutinho pursuit. The German gives a rather reassuring answer.
He says, as quoted by Standard Sport: "Have we been offered Coutinho? No answer. How we deal with these things in the past gives us the opportunity to make no comment. And it's not really likely we will do any business. If you want more excitement go to Everton!"
Two weeks ago, Klopp already gave his clear verdict on Coutinho's potential return, as per ESPN: " I like Phil, I think he's a fantastic footballer and all that stuff, but it would be a big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big-money signing and it's not our year for that. It's just not possible."
This Wednesday, ESPN sources also reported that Coutinho will NOT move to the Premier League this summer. With the transfer window closing in the next 24 hours, none of the English clubs see the Brazilian as a possibility.
Previously, multiple reports claimed that Tottenham Hotspur were extremely close to sealing the deal, however, the negotiations were described as very complicated ones.
