Arthur names the main objective for his second season at Barca
- The Brazilian is looking forward to the start of 2019/20 campaign.
- First of all, he wants to further improve his physical conditions.
- Secondly, Arthur aims to win every trophy available with the team.
Arthur has cut his holidays five days short after Copa America to resume full training with Barcelona. Nevertheless, the midfielder is yet to reach the full fitness as he is still unable to play the whole 90 minutes.
This why Arthur is aware that there is a lot of work ahead of him personally and the team in general.
"This is going to be a long season, but a good one," Arthur told the media in Detroit after the Thirstday training session. "This year, I think I am more mature and better adapted."
I want to get stronger physically, because last year it got a little tough for me. As a team, our objective is to win every title we can. We know it’s difficult, but that’s why we’re here."
According to Barcelona-based Diario Sport, Blaugrana have high hopes for Arthur and want him to be an undisputed starter for years to come. However, his bad physical conditions last season raised concern among the coaching staff and the club's officials. As such, the Catalans are set to develop an individual training programme for the midfielder in order to strengthen his fitness.
Although his adaptation to European football came earlier than the Catalans expected, there still are reasons to worry. For example, Ernesto Valverde barely gave the Brazilian the chance to play full matches as he usually subbed him off around the 70 minutes mark. This is, reportedly, due to his lack of stamina.
The problems come, allegedly, from Arthur's not-so-good diet and bad habits. As a reminder, the 22-year-old suffered an untimely injury last spring after attending Neymar's birthday party in Paris. Although the Brazil international apologized for the incident, both the club and the player want to avoid similar experiences in the future.
The midfielder is yet to play for Barca in the pre-season but he would probably feature for Barca in the second clash against Napoli on Saturday.
