Barca running out of time to sell the deadwood
- The transfer window in England shut down yesterday, August 8.
- Barca has only about 20 days to sell the unwanted players.
- Coutinho, Rakitic, Vidal and Rafinha could all leave Camp Nou this summer.
On Thursday, August 8, the transfer window in England officially shut down and this comes as bad news to Barcelona, as the club losses one of the best markets in terms of offloading players. Reportedly, the Catalans offered Philippe Coutinho on loan to both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur but the parties couldn't reach a deal.
Now that the Premier League stops being a possible destination, Barca will have to look at other destinations for their players. Reportedly, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain could both be interested in the Brazilian, with the French team even willing to accept him in a swap deal for Neymar. However, Phil is not the only player Blaugrana will look to sell.
Reportedly, Ernesto Valverde wants to have only six options in midfield, which means that one of Ivan Rakitic or Arturo Vidal would have to leave. Interestingly enough, both players have been linked with a possible switch to Inter Milan. However, it still remains to be seen if Barca will be able to reach an agreement with the Italians over a move.
And finally, another candidate to leave Camp Nou is Rafinha. Despite a good pre-season, the 26-year-old isn't part of Valverde's plan for the upcoming season and could be offloaded towards the end of the summer. Allegedly, Valencia could be interested in the Brazilia. Moreover, Barca need to sell Rafa this summer or they risk losing him for free, as his contract expires in June 2020.
