Two 'very special partners' join Messi as Leo continues his recovery
- Leo's preparedness for the Athletic fixture remains a question.
- The forward continues individual work in Barca facilities.
- His sons Thiago and mate joined Leo on Sunday.
Lionel Messi has been out of action since Monday due to a right calf injury he got during his first training session this summer. Leo didn't travel with the entire squad to the United States and revealed via his official media accounts that he would be "out for a while".
Nevertheless, as soon as Tuesday Leo started his work towards the recovery aiming to get back on track in time for Barcelona's league opener on Friday against Atheltic.
On Sunday Leo, who works under the close supervision of Barca medical team, found out that there are two other people who are willing to help him to regain his best form. Messi's sons Thiago and Mateo joined the forward on the training pitch.
Leo posted a cute picture with them on Instagram adding cheeky caption: "We continue to recover, today with two very special training partners... 👌🏻😃"
It's unlikely that Barcelona will be risking Messi's health rushing him to the recovery for the Friday's clash against Bilbao.
When asked about the physical conditions of the Argentine, Ernesto Valverde couldn't give a proper answer.
As was confirmed by La Liga, Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao away at San Mames on Friday, August 16, 21:00 CET.
