- The Dutchman admits he is enjoying his time at Barcelona so far.
- However, he insists he has high standards and always looks for improvements.
- The 22-year-old names his long-range pass and goalscoring abilities as qualities he should work on.
Frenkie de Jong gives a quick interview to Fox Sports as he discusses the first weeks at Barcelona. The Dutchman was unveiled at the Camp Nou stadium more than a month ago, on July 5. Since then, the 22-year-old has made five appearances for the Catalan giants in the pre-season friendlies and impressed the whole world with his incredible passing abilities.
De Jong seems to be happy with his Blaugrana honeymoon: "I am enjoying my time at Barcelona so far. The team helps me a lot. I feel good on and off the field, I feel comfortable. The first month, weeks, have been really good."
However, he also admits there are a lot of things he could improve: " I have high standards for myself, and for the team. But I'm not the boss. But you always need to look for things to improve. For me, it's my long-range pass, I think I can score more goals, I can improve my long-range shooting, making runs behind the opponent defence, etc."
De Jong's perfectionism was particularly noticed during Barcelona's flight back to the Catalan capital after the 4-0 Napoli win. Unlike his teammates, the Dutchman wasn't playing any games or watching any TV series. Instead, he was reviewing the highlights of the game.
By the way, in the same match against Napoli, De Jong completed most passes (72) and ball recoveries (8) than any other player on the pitch.
