Superdeporte: Valencia owner stops Rafinha transfer
- Valencia have been reportedly following the player for the past months.
- Club's owner, Peter Lim, doesn't want to sign the Brazilian despite coach's demands.
- Rafa's future remains uncertain.
According to local newspaper Superdeporte, Valencia have ruled out the signing of Rafinha due to a veto from club's owner Peter Lim. The Brazilian is one of the main candidates to leave Camp Nou this summer due to Barca's midfield already being overbooked.
Reportedly, Los Che's coach Marcelino is a big fan of the Brazilian and wanted him in his squad for the upcoming season. Moreover, the two clubs were close to reaching an agreement back in July but the negotiations stalled due to internal tension at Valencia.
The 26-year-old is finally fully-fit and has taken part in the pre-season with the rest of the squad. Although he didn't play that much, Rafa left a good impression. Nonetheless, the Catalans are unlikely to renew his contract which runs out next summer. Thus, if Barca fail to find a new club for the Brazilian this summer, they risk losing him for free in a year's time.
