Sport: Former club Santos tried to loan Neymar out
- Santos president confirms that the club made an approach for their former player.
- They tried to loan Neymar out for half a year.
- PSG said 'no' to Santos' offer.
Neymar is probably the main hero of this transfer window. With constant rumours about Barcelona and Real Madrid's attempts to sign the forward the rumours flow about the Brazilian seemingly never stops.
However, at least one wild transfer story about Ney has certainly gotten overlooked.
Jose Carlos Peres, the president of Santos, the Brazilian's childhood club, has self-admittingly made an attempt to sign Ney on a half-a-year loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain.
"That was a possibility. It was complicated, of course, but it was an option. We tried to bring him here for six months until December. We spoke with people close to his father but it wasn't possible," Peres told Globo Esporte (h/t Sport).
According to a very reliable ESPN reporter Sam Marsden, the Catalans have offered as much as 100 million euros for the Brazilian as well as include two players of their own in the deal - Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho.
Until this very moment, Barcelona were hoping that they can complete the transfer using only players and not money. In fact, they contemplated adding Ousmane Dembele and Nelson Semedo in the deal on top of Coutinho and Neymar.
The Parisians in their turn are not interested in Rakitic but wouldn't mind getting Semedo in addition to Phil. The first Barca offer consisting of 60 million euros and Philippe Coutinho have already been turned down. Fortunately for Barcelona, Real Madrid are apparently unable to meet Paris' demands due to the lack of funds for the transfer.
