Suarez travels to Morocco to spend his weekend after Athletic injury
- Barca lost to Athletic 0-1.
- Suarez picked up an injury in the first half and was forced off the pitch.
- Valverde gave the players free time until Monday evening.
- The Uruguayan left for Morocco to spend his holidays after further tests.
Barcelona surprisingly lost to Athletic Bilbao thanks to an impressive strike from Aritz Aduriz. Besides the obvious disappointment, the Catalans also lost Luis Suarez who picked up a calf injury in the first half at San Mames.
Following further tests carried out by the club early on Saturday, Mundo Deportivo reports that the Uruguayan flew to Tangier, Morocco where he plans to spend his holiday. Allegedly, the striker nows that the club doesn't return to training soon and will use the free time to relax.
Reportedly, Ernesto Valverde gave the player free time until Monday evening, as the squad is set to return for training at 18:30 local time.
According to an earlier report from RAC1 claims that the Uruguay international could be back in action in just 10 to 15 days, which is almost half the time Marca previously predicted the striker would be out for.
If the update turns out to be true, Luis will only miss two games:
Moreover, the expected time of his recovery could not be more convenient. After the Osasuna match, the players will leave on international duty, with the next league match planned only for September 14 (vs Valencia at Camp Nou). Considering the 32-year-old would only be back from injury, Uruguay might not call up the striker.
As a reminder, Suarez started the La Liga opening fixture against Athletic Bilbao away as a centre-forward. He only lasted for 33 minutes and was unable to continue. During his short came, the Uruguayan produced only one shot which hit the crossbar. Apparently, he pulled his muscle exactly at that moment. In his absence, Antoine Griezmann was switched to the centre while Ousmane Dembele and Rafinha occupied their respective flanks.
How do you feel about Suarez going on holiday following his injury?
