Diario Sport: With Messi and without Suarez in the next match vs Betis
- Leo and Luis are both out with injuries.
- The Argentine is expected to return to normal dynamics next week.
- Although it's not certain, the captain could be called up for the next match.
Leo Messi was unable to travel with the rest of the squad for the pre-season tour in the USA due to an unfortunate injury. However, the Argentine is set to return already next week with the first training session set for Monday evening. For the last week, the forward has been training individually.
Lionel is expected to return to first-team dynamics and Ernesto Valverde will most likely include him in the squad list for the Camp Nou match against Real Betis. However, the captain might not play from the start considering that it will be his first time training with the rest of the boys this summer.
As for Luis Suarez, an earlier report from RAC1 claims that the Uruguay international could be back in action in just 10 to 15 days, which is almost half the time Marca previously predicted the striker would be out for.
If the update turns out to be true, Luis will only miss two games:
Moreover, the expected time of his recovery could not be more convenient. After the Osasuna match, the players will leave on international duty, with the next league match planned only for September 14 (vs Valencia at Camp Nou). Considering the 32-year-old would only be back from injury, Uruguay might not call up the striker.
Messi will also not join the Argentina national team in September following his corruption comments at the 2019 Copa America. This could turn out beneficial for Blaugrana's captain as he will have two additional weeks to settle.
