Valverde's 4 options to replace Suarez in next La Liga game
- Luis will for sure miss the next La Liga match against Real Betis.
- In his absence, Valverde has four options in attack, besides Dembele and Griezmann.
- Messi, Rafinha, Carles Perez or Able Ruiz could all replace the Uruguayan.
According to Barcelona-based outlet Diario Sport, Ernesto Valverde has to decide in the coming days who will play in the next La Liga match at Camp Nou against Real Betis. Following Luis Suarez injury in the Athletic Bilbao match, the coach is left with four options:
1. Leo Messi
The Argentine is currently recovering from his injury and playing him in the next match could be a huge risk. He has been training individually this summer and is set to return to group training on Monday. However, it's uncertain if he will be able to play full 90 minutes.
The Brazilian was the one to replace Luisito in the last league match. The 26-year-old occupied the right flank with Antoine Griezmann replacing Suarez in the centre-forward position and Ousmane Dembele moving to the right. Considering his impressive performance at San Mames, Ernesto could give Rafa another chance.
As a reminder, the club are still looking to offload the Brazilian. He has only one more year left of contract and Blaugrana are unwilling to renew his deal. Valencia were close to securing a move but Los Che pulled out recently.
3. Carles Perez
The 21-year-old put in several good performances during the pre-season and has even scored twice. Moreover, Valverde called the Barca B winger for the opening league match and even subbed him in in the second half. The coach promised earlier this summer to give Perez a chance at the first team and the home match against Los Verdiblancos could be a good opportunity to play him from the start.
4. Abel Ruiz
According to recent reports, Ruiz has returned to Barca B following the USA tour with the senior squad. The forward, whose playing style is often compared to that of Karim Benzema, is the only one on the list that could play in Suarez's position. Currently, the club considers sending him on loan in order to get more playing experience. However, Ernesto could include him in the squad list for the upcoming match.
Is it worth risking Messi or should someone else be given a chance?
